Conveyor Idlers Spec Sheet

HDPE & UHMWPE-Lined Rollers

HDPE or UHMWPE linings expansion-fitted over standard Lorbrand steel tube and machined to low TIR. For wet or sticky carry-back, belt loads too heavy for composite rollers, and weigh-scale idlers.

Construction

Welded steel body.
Machined HDPE or UHMWPE lining.

HDPE or UHMWPE linings are expansion-fitted over standard Lorbrand steel tube and machined to low TIR. Underneath is the standard Lorbrand steel roller: thick pressed-steel housings welded to high-precision, conveyor-grade tube, with proprietary manufacturing techniques and equipment keeping weld deformation to a minimum.

Calibration of the bearing-housing seats in the final manufacturing step ensures a consistently true bearing seat and a long bearing life.

Lined rollers handle wet or sticky carry-back and carry heavier belt loads than a composite roller, whose tube is glass-fibre-reinforced HDPE rather than steel. They also suit weigh-scale rollers, and the polymer surface runs quieter than bare steel.

Key Design Features

Nothing moves, yields or creeps.

Six design features that determine bearing, lining and roller life.

01

Precision bearing seats, constant tolerances

Bearing seats are calibrated in the final manufacturing step and hold constant tolerances throughout decades of service.

02

Welded housing-to-shell joint

The welded joint holds each housing in the shell, preventing the housing-to-shell failures that damage belt and frame.

03

Linings rigidly located on the tube

The expansion-fitted lining is rigidly located on the steel tube, with no axial or rotational displacement in service.

04

Proven 4-stage sealing system

Centrifugal seal, labyrinth seal, storage seal and bearing seal work in series to keep contamination out and grease in, for maximum roller life.

05

Low out-of-balance value

Accurate manufacture, low tube TIR and a machined running surface keep the out-of-balance value low, for smooth running at belt speed.

06

Concentrically machined & ground spindles

Axle spindles are CNC-machined and ground concentric to the shaft, so the bearing runs true on its seat.

Available Options

Monitoring, lighter shafts and alternative linings

Factory-fitted options, available on the standard lined roller range.

PREDICTIVE MAINTENANCE

Sensor Seals

A self-powered sensor built into the roller's end seal, reading temperature, vibration and speed, so a failing roller is found before it damages the belt. For rollers with 6305 bearings and larger.

LIGHTWEIGHT

Hollow shafts

Hollow shafts cut roller weight for weight-critical and special-frame applications, alongside thicker-wall tube options.

ALTERNATIVE COVERINGS

Vulcanised rubber and cast polyurethane linings

Vulcanised NR/BR rubber or cast PU linings in place of HDPE or UHMWPE, on the same machined steel roller body, where the material, temperature or site specification calls for a different lining.

Process Verification

Quality control and testing

Dimensional inspection, weld integrity, lining TIR after machining and roller running checks, carried out to the inspection and test plan for each order.
