Construction

Concentrically bored landings.
Glass-fibre-reinforced materials.

Lightweight, low-noise Lorbrand composite rollers reduce damage to the belt when a roller fails, and reduce injuries during roller installation and change-out. They perform particularly well where there is wet carry-back and in corrosive environments. For heavier belt loads, HDPE- or UHMWPE-lined rollers put a machined polymer running surface on a steel roller body.

Long, mutually concentric bores are machined simultaneously into the glass-fibre-reinforced HDPE tube, which spreads the load evenly across the bearing-housing flange seats.

The materials are a balanced choice. Glass-fibre-reinforced nylon PA66, with a high Vicat softening point and heat-deflection temperature, is used for the bearing housings, where temperature and load are highest. GF HDPE tube has good wear and non-stick properties, and is cost-effective.

Key Design Features

Low mass, low noise, low TIR.

Six design features that determine bearing and roller life.

Quarter section: housing in bored landing
01

Low weight, low noise

Reduces the risk of injury during installation and change-out, and the risks associated with noise.

02

Belt friendly

Reduces the risk of belt damage from a failed roller or from poor maintenance.

03

Machined running surface

The tube running surface is machined for low TIR and smooth running at belt speed.

04

High-strength bearing housings

GF nylon PA66 housings are seated in long, concentrically bored landings and secured by friction fit and a snap-in groove.

05

Proven 4-stage sealing system

Centrifugal seal, labyrinth seal, storage seal and bearing seal work in series to keep contamination out and grease in, for maximum roller life.

06

Concentrically machined & ground spindles

Axle spindles are CNC-machined and ground concentric to the shaft, so the bearing runs true on its seat.

Available Options

Monitoring, lighter shafts and fire-retardant grades

Factory-fitted options, available on the standard composite roller range.

PREDICTIVE MAINTENANCE

Sensor Seals

A self-powered sensor built into the roller's end seal, reading temperature, vibration and speed, so a failing roller is found before it damages the belt.

LIGHTWEIGHT

Hollow shafts

Hollow shafts cut roller weight for weight-critical and special-frame applications.

UNDERGROUND INSTALLATIONS

Fire-retardant housings and tube

Fire-retardant grades of the nylon housing and HDPE tube, for underground and other installations where fire-retardant conveyor components are specified.

Process Verification

Quality control and testing

Dimensional inspection of bores and spindles, TIR checks on the machined running surface and roller running checks, carried out to the inspection and test plan for each order.
